Board of Studies Chairman, Board of Studies INSTRUCTIONS / NORMS FOR GRANTING APPROVAL AS RESEARCH GUIDES, (Approved by the Syndicate at its meeting held on 10-06-1988) 1. Only those who possess Ph. D. Degree (unless otherwise provided in the statute) shall be given recognition as research guides. However, in certain emerging areas of studies where Ph.D. holders are very few in number and in the case of those persons who have exceptionally brilliant academic achievements and proven ability in research work, may be recognized by the Syndicate after obtaining the opinion of the concerned Dean and Post-Graduate Board Chairman. 2. In the case of Teachers in the University Departments and affiliated colleges, they may be recognized as research guides provided they have a Ph. D. Degree and at least one research paper accepted for publication in a journal (recognized by the concerned P.G. Board of Studies) after award of their Ph. D. 3. In the case of technical staff, Pool Officers working in the University Departments, affiliated colleges, Research Institutions, Industrial Organisations etc., they may be granted recognition provided they have a Ph. D. Degree and they have atleast two research papers published in a research journal after obtaining Ph. D.Degree. 4. The Syndicate may however consider the case of eminent scholars who are not teachers or who do not belong to the technical staff of the above Institutions, provided the Syndicate is satisfied that the recognition granted to such a person will promote research activity in his field of excellence. 5. Copy of Ph. D.Degree certificate should be enclosed. 6. Copy of Publications certified by the Chairman, Post-Graduate Board of Studies, should be enclosed. 7. Facility certificate from recognized research center should be submitted in case of those persons in the Faculty of Science who are not employed in recognized research institutions. 8. The fee for recognition as Research Guide is Rs.500/- Demand draft(Rs.510)/chalan receipt for the prescribed amount should be enclosed.
