Only those who have registered themselves as research students and candidate for research degrees under the rules of this University are eligible to submit their thesis after the expiry of the prescribed minimum period of research. But candidates under the Faculty of Science have to pass the prescribed qualifying examination also before the submission of their thesis. 2. (a) The candidates should submit to the University four copies of their thesis accompanied by an application in the prescribed form together with the prescribed fee, six copies of "one page" synopsis of the thesis and all other relevant documents mentioned under item No. (4) below. (b) The candidates are however allowed to submit their applications together with the prescribed fee, copies of the synopsis and the other documents mentioned above, three months before they intend to submit their thesis. But in case they do not submit their thesis within the three months they will forfeit the fee paid by them. 3. The prescribed fee for the submission of the thesis for the various research degrees are: Ph. D. Degree Rs.350/-* M. Litt. Degree Rs.250/-* M.Sc. (Engg) Degree (By research) Rs.250/-* * subject to change The fee should be remitted under the " KERALA UNIVERSITY FUND ACCOUNTS" either in the State Bank of Travancore at any of its branches or in the Government Treasury inside Kerala State. The original pay-in-slip /chalan should be attached to the application. The fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. 4. the following documents IN ORIGINAL should be submitted along with the application without fail. (The original documents under items (i) to (v) will however be returned to the candidates in due course after verification.) (i) M.A. /M.Sc./M. Ed (or equivalent) Degree Diploma (in original) (ii) THE UNIVERSITY ORDER (in original) granting recognition of his/ her qualifying degree M.A. /M.Sc./ M. Ed. Or equivalent in case he/ she taken his/ her qualifying degree from a University other than Kerala University (Vide item No.8 below). (iii) The University order (in original) granting him/ her registration as a research student and candidate for the research degree. (iv) The University Order (in original) intimating him / her that he / she has passed the prescribed qualifying examination for submission of the thesis (This is applicable only to candidates under the Faculty of Science. (v) The University order (in original) sanctioning change of titles on the thesis in case there is any change in the title originally approved by the University. (vi) The Chalan / Pay-in-slip (in original) towards payment of the prescribed fee. (vii) Ten copies of "one page" synopsis of the thesis. ( Name of the Candidate/ Supervising teacher should not be entered in the synopsis) (viii) A non-liability certificate obtained from the Head of the University Department /institution where he/ she has carried out the research work. (ix) A clearance certificate obtained from the Librarian, Kerala University, Thiruvananthapuram in case he/ she is a member of the Library (If he/ she is not a member of the University Library a certificate to that effect obtained from the University Librarian should be produced). (x) A Statement of fees remitted by the Candidate at the University research Centre Counter signed by the Guide 5. Each candidate should submit four copies of his/ her thesis out of which only one copy will be returned to him/ her if the thesis is approved for the award of the degree for which it was submitted. The thesis when submitted should contain the following. (i) A declaration signed by the candidate that it has not previously formed the basis for award of any degree diploma, associateship, fellowship or other similar title or recognition. (ii) A report by the Supervising Teacher certifying that the thesis is a record of bonafide research carried out by the candidate. 6. In case there is any change in the title of the thesis originally approved by the University at the time of registration, the change of title should be got approved by the University before forwarding the application for submission of the thesis. The number and date of the University order should be furnished in column No. 7 of the application. The order in original should be sent along with the application vide item 4 (v). 7. In case the candidate is submitting the thesis for a second time after revising the original thesis submitted earlier, the number and date of the University order directing him/ her to do so should he furnished in column II. 8. In case the candidate has taken his/ her qualifying degree M.A. /M.Sc. / M.Ed. or equivalent from a University other than Kerala University, he/ she has to obtain recognition of his qualifying degree and to register/ himself as a matriculate of this University for which he/ she has to apply for in the prescribed forms by remitting the prescribed fee. The number and date of the University order granting recognition should be mentioned in column No. 13. (The original order should be forwarded along with the application.) (Vide item No.4 (ii). 9. The thesis whether approved or not, shall not be published without the sanction of the University. 10. All matters connected with the evaluation of the thesis are treated as strictly confidential and no interim enquiries in this regard will be entertained under any circumstance. The result will be intimated to the candidate as and when it is finalized.
